Roll Fed vs. Pressure Sensitive: Which One Do You Need?
The choice between roll fed and pressure sensitive labels usually comes down to volume, container shape, and adhesive method. Pressure sensitive labels are die-cut on a release liner and peel off at application — flexible, great for irregular shapes, and economical for short and medium runs. Roll fed labels have no liner; the labels are a continuous printed web that the labeling machine cuts to length and applies in one pass. Roll fed wins at high volume on cylindrical containers and eliminates the liner-waste stream, which matters for sustainability-minded brands. Most of our beverage, beer, wine, and personal-care customers use roll fed for their core SKUs and switch to pressure sensitive for limited editions and seasonal releases.
